Obverse description Central field occupied by the large crowned quartered shield of Austria-Burgundy, displaying the arms of Austria (horizontal bars), Burgundy ancient (semé of fleurs-de-lis), Flanders (rampant lion), and Burgundy modern (diagonal stripes), surmounted by an imperial crown. The shield divides the surrounding circular legend, which is rendered in Gothic uncial lettering and interrupted by ornamental stops. The overall design is characteristic of late-15th-century Burgundian Low Countries coinage, with bold relief and irregular flan edges typical of hammer-struck production.
