| Reverse description | A floriated long cross with elaborate fleur-de-lis terminals occupies the centre of the coin, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The arms of the cross are ornamented with foliate Gothic flourishes at each extremity, and a small decorative element appears at the centre of the cross. A Latin legend in uncial script, beginning with a cross pattée, fills the outer field and quotes the Pauline verse affirming divine protection, characteristic of ecclesiastical issues of the period. |
