Tibet's srang coinage of this period was produced at the Dode mint outside Lhasa, a facility operating with hand-struck methods that never achieved mechanical consistency. The result is a series notorious among collectors for irregular flans, off-center strikes, and edge cracks — none of which reflect damage but simply the conditions under which every piece left the mint. The decade-long date range reflects Tibetan calendar conventions rather than continuous production; actual striking was episodic, responding to local demand rather than any systematic monetary program.
