| 表面の説明 | Facing half-length effigy of King James I within the hull of a ship sailing left, the king depicted armoured, holding an upraised sword in his right hand and bearing a royal shield on his left arm. A flag displaying the letter 'I' is set upon the forecastle of the vessel. The king's portrait is rendered in the bold, flat relief characteristic of early Stuart hammered gold coinage. The obverse legend encircles the design in Latin, identifying the king as ruler of Great Britain, France, and Ireland. |

| 裏面の説明 | A floriated cross occupies the central field, with a fleur-de-lis terminating each limb and a rose superimposed upon a sun at the centre. In each of the four angles formed by the cross arms, a crowned lion passant guardant left is placed. The entire composition is enclosed within a tressure of eight arched compartments, with trefoils decorating the spandrels between arches. The reverse legend, drawn from Psalm 118:23, runs in Latin around the periphery of the coin. |
