Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Frederik IV facing right, with a long flowing allonge wig rendered in fine detail, occupying the central field. The king wears a cuirass with ornamental shoulder guards visible at the truncation. The effigy is executed in high relief in the Baroque manner typical of early 18th-century Danish coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a toothed border. The portrait conveys regal authority consistent with the medallic style prevalent at the Copenhagen Mint under Frederik IV.

Additional information

Frederik IV minted speciedialer with particular urgency in the early 1700s as Denmark prosecuted the Great Northern War against Sweden — a conflict that drained treasury resources and demanded hard currency for troop payments and alliance obligations. The Copenhagen Mint was under considerable pressure during this period, and output quality across the series is noticeably uneven as a result.

Hede 34 is among the more accessible dates in this reign, though examples with full, uninterrupted edge treatment are harder to locate than mintage pressures alone would suggest.
