Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Frederik III facing right, wearing armor with ornate shoulder pauldron decorated with raised bosses and horizontal bands, with a lace cravat visible at the throat and long curling hair flowing to the shoulders. The effigy is boldly rendered in high relief in the Baroque style. The portrait is contained within a finely beaded inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend reads FRIDERICVS 3 D G DAN NOR VAN GOT REX, divided by the bust truncation, identifying the king as Frederick III, by the grace of God, King of Denmark, Norway, the Wends, and the Goths.
