Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Christian VIII occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of the period. The king's name and royal titles appear in the surrounding legend in two lines, separated by a vertical divider. A mintmark in the form of a small crown or heart may appear below the truncation of the bust, varying by mint. The portrait is attributed to engraver Harald Conradsen and exhibits a neoclassical sculptural quality consistent with mid-19th-century Danish coinage.
