Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King Christian VII in the Baroque portrait style, wearing armour with decorative pauldrons and an elaborately tied cravat, his hair dressed in loose curls falling to the shoulder in the fashionable late-18th-century manner. The effigy is rendered with strong relief and fine die-engraving detail throughout the drapery and hair. A small mintmark 'B' appears at the base of the bust. The circular Latin legend surrounding the portrait reads CHRIST • VII • D • G • REX • DAN • NOR • VAN • GOT •, separated by pellet stops, set within a toothed border.
