| Reverse description | Central device consisting of the crowned Norwegian lion rampant sinister, holding a halberd, depicted within an ornate oval wreath or cartouche surmounted by a royal crown. The Arms of Denmark-Norway lion is enclosed within an oval formed by a wreath of laurel or palm branches tied at the base, with the mint master's initials F G flanking below, and the date 16-70 divided on either side of the lower cartouche. A mintmaster's mark appears at the very base of the design. The circumferential Latin legend PIETATE·ET IUSTITIA· runs around the field, separated by rosette stops, with the full legend meaning 'With piety and justice.' |
