| Obverse description | Armored bust of King Christian IV of Denmark facing right, wearing a crown and elaborately engraved plate armor with a mantle draped over the shoulders. Below the bust, the royal Danish coat of arms is depicted, featuring lions and hearts on a quartered shield. A beaded inner circle frames the central design, with the circumferential Latin legend divided by the motto REGNA FI | RMAT PIETAS ('Piety strengthens kingdoms') incorporated into the field on either side of the bust. The portrait is rendered in a vigorous late Renaissance style characteristic of early seventeenth-century northern European coinage. |
