Reverse description Central rectangular shield bearing the three Danish lions passant with hearts, surrounded by a large ornate arrangement of ten oval escutcheons representing the subsidiary territories of the Danish crown, each containing the heraldic device of its respective realm. A royal crown surmounts the central shield, and the entire composition is enclosed within a rope-twist inner border and finely toothed outer border. The circumferential Latin legend reads REG : FIRM : PIET · DVX · SCHLE: HOL : STOR . ET · DIT: CO IN:OL:ET.DE, proclaiming Christian IV's ducal and comital titles over Schleswig, Holstein, Stormarn, Ditmarsh, Oldenburg, and Delmenhorst. The mint mark appears in the legend area.
