Obverse description Armored and crowned half-length effigy of King Christian IV facing right, set above a large ornate rounded cartouche bearing the royal titles and date in four lines; the mintmaster's initials HK appear below, divided by the cartouche lobes. The bust is contained within a beaded inner circle, with the king's motto — REGNA FIRMAT PIETAS — running along the outer rim, interrupted by the crown above. The portrait is rendered in the formal Baroque style characteristic of mid-17th-century Danish coinage.
