| Obverse description | Crowned and armored bust of King Christian IV facing right, rendered in high relief in the Renaissance manner. The king wears an elaborately worked suit of armor with engraved pauldrons and gorget, and a royal crown surmounts his head. His hair and beard are rendered with fine detail, and the truncation of the bust is visible at the lower field. The circumferential Latin legend is separated from the inner field by a toothed border of dentils, with floral and triangular ornaments serving as word dividers. |
