Obverse description Youthful, laureate effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, engraved by William Wyon after a portrait by Sir Francis Chantrey, with flowing hair and bare neck. The surrounding legend reads VICTORIA D:G: BRITANNIAR:REG:F:D: in raised Latin characters within a beaded border. Superimposed over the queen's portrait is an incuse Arabic countermark applied by the Qu'aiti Sultanate, bearing the inscription الدوله منصر ١٣٠٧ سنه (Ruler Munassar, Year 1307) along with the letter M, applied in AH 1307 (1890 CE). The countermark is prominently struck across the obverse field, partially obscuring the underlying royal portrait.
