Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of King Henry VIII enthroned in majesty, crowned with an ornate arched crown, robed in royal regalia, holding an orb in the left hand and a sceptre in the right. The king is seated beneath a canopy with elaborate Gothic architectural details. The legend in uncial script runs along the outer border, separated by annulets or lis stops. The overall design is executed in the late-Gothic hammered style characteristic of early Tudor coinage.
