Obverse description Bare-headed, left-facing effigy of King George V, featuring the enhanced or 'modified' portrait engraved by Sir Bertram Mackennal, distinguishable by its slightly larger and more detailed rendering compared to the earlier issue. The king is depicted with a short beard, wearing a plain neckline. The circular Latin legend reads GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP: around the periphery, with the engraver's initials BM visible in small letters beneath the truncation of the bust.
