| Additional information |
The Isle of Man has issued sovereign-sized silver pieces outside the authority of the Royal Mint for decades, a practice rooted in the island's status as a Crown dependency with its own legislative assembly, Tynwald — the oldest continuous parliament in the world. These pieces carry no legal tender standing in the United Kingdom proper.
KM#1743 is one of several annual holiday-themed releases from the Pobjoy Mint era, produced for the gift and collector market rather than any monetary function.
