The India mintmark on this sovereign denotes striking at the Sovereign Mint at Saida, operated by MMTC-PAMP in Uttarakhand — a facility that began producing sovereigns for the Royal Mint under a licensing arrangement starting in 2013, the first time sovereigns had been legally struck in India since the Bombay and Calcutta mints produced them for circulation under British imperial authority in the early twentieth century.
