| Reverse description | The celebrated St. George and the Dragon reverse, designed by Benedetto Pistrucci, depicting a helmeted and armoured Saint George on horseback facing right, thrusting his broken lance downward into the body of the writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The dragon is shown coiled and prostrate, with the broken shaft of the lance lying in the lower field. The date appears in the exergue below the ground line, accompanied by the engraver's initials B.P. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
