| Reverse description | The iconic St. George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci, reproduced in its classic form as used on British sovereigns since 1817. St. George, depicted as a muscular, helmeted and cloaked warrior, is shown mounted on a rearing horse facing right, thrusting a broken lance downward into the writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The composition fills the field with vigorous Neo-classical energy. The date 2025 appears in the exergue below the ground line, with the engraver's initials B.P. incuse to the right of the exergue. |
