| Reverse description | The iconic reverse design by Benedetto Pistrucci, first introduced on the sovereign in 1817 and here reproduced in its traditional form, depicts Saint George, helmeted and in classical warrior attire with a billowing cloak, mounted on a rearing horse and driving his sword downward to slay a writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The composition fills the field dynamically, with the dragon coiled in the lower right. The engraver's monogram 'BP' appears to the right of the exergual line, and the date 2024 is incused in the exergue below. |
