| Obverse description | Crowned bust of Christian IV facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and armored shoulders, rendered in a bold hammered style typical of early 17th-century Danish coinage. The portrait is set within a beaded inner circle. The legend arcs around the periphery of the coin, reading partially NORVEGI·VANDA·GOTH·Q·REX, identifying the king as ruler of Norway, Vandalia, and Gothland. The crown is depicted with prominent fleurs-de-lis and pearls. The overall relief is slightly irregular due to the hand-hammered technique. |
