Issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II — known in post-Soviet states as the Great Patriotic War — this coin reflects the continued political weight that May 9th carries across former Soviet republics. Kyrgyzstan lost an estimated 30 percent of its male population during the conflict, a demographic wound that shaped the country for generations.
