| Obverse description | Facing conjoined busts of King Frederik I and Queen Sophia, each crowned, arranged in confronting portrait style within a beaded inner circle. Stylized floral ornaments appear in the upper field between the busts, with columnar pillar devices flanking either side. A four-line inscription in Latin occupies the lower portion of the field, naming the royal couple and their titles. The composition reflects the Renaissance medallic tradition common to early sixteenth-century Scandinavian coinage. A beaded ring frames the entire design along the rim. |
