Obverse description Right-facing pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian III, rendered in the late Roman imperial tradition. A pellet or dot appears in the field behind the bust. The effigy is encircled by a Latin legend naming the emperor with his full titulature. The portrait style is characteristic of early fifth-century Roman coinage, with fine drapery detail visible at the shoulder.
