| Beschrijving keerzijde | A cross with flat, splayed ends set atop a four-stepped base occupying the central field, closely imitating Byzantine solidus reverse types associated with the Constantinople mint. The cross and steps are rendered in low relief with broad, simplified forms characteristic of Avar imitative coinage. A surrounding pseudo-legend of degenerate Latin letterforms fills the outer field, representing a corrupted rendering of the Byzantine VICTORIA AVGG CONOB formula, indicating the mint signature and imperial victory titulature of the prototype. |
