Obverse description Two facing busts side by side: the left bust crowned and bearded, the right bust crowned and mustachioed, with a cross potent between them. The effigies are rendered in a debased, barbaric imitation of Byzantine imperial portraiture. The surrounding legend is composed of pseudo-Latin characters copied without comprehension from a Byzantine prototype, resulting in a garbled, nonsensical inscription in the field.
