| Obverse description | Two facing busts side by side: the left bust crowned and bearded, the right bust crowned and mustachioed, with a cross potent between them. The effigies are rendered in a debased, barbaric imitation of Byzantine imperial portraiture. The surrounding legend is composed of pseudo-Latin characters copied without comprehension from a Byzantine prototype, resulting in a garbled, nonsensical inscription in the field. |

| Reverse description | A stepped cross — a cross potent set upon four graduated steps — occupies the central field, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude barbaric style characteristic of Avar imitative coinage. The cross is flanked on either side by debased pseudo-Latin lettering derived from an imperial Byzantine prototype. The exergue bears the mint mark CONOB, retained from the original Byzantine solidus, indicating the Constantinople mint and confirming the piece's nature as a close imitation. |
