Obverse description Helmeted, cuirassed, and draped bust of Emperor Anastasius I facing front, depicted in three-quarter view with a slight rightward inclination. The emperor wears an elaborate crested helmet adorned with plume and cheek-guards, and his cuirass is richly decorated with a pattern of overlapping scales. A spear is held upright over the right shoulder, while a decorated shield is visible at the left side. The facial features are rendered in a stylized late antique manner with large, forward-gazing eyes. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N ANASTA-SIVS PF AVG, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Anastasius, Perpetuus Felix Augustus.
