| Beschrijving voorzijde | Helmeted and cuirassed facing bust of Anastasius I, rendered in a somewhat barbaric style characteristic of Germanic imitative coinage, with large stylized eyes and a frontal, hieratic presentation. The emperor holds a spear over his right shoulder and a shield is visible at the left, decorated with a horseman motif. A dotted border encircles the design. The facial features and helmet, while derived from Byzantine prototypes, exhibit the cruder workmanship typical of post-Roman Germanic imitations. The surrounding legend is partially garbled, reflecting the imitators' limited familiarity with Latin script. |
