Obverse description Crowned oval cartouche bearing the Austrian imperial arms, consisting of a horizontally divided shield with the Habsburg barry design, set within an elaborate baroque foliate frame with scrollwork extending to either side. A royal crown surmounts the cartouche at top center. The circular Latin legend surrounding the design reads CAR·VI·ROM. IMP·DVX·MAN·, identifying the issuer as Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor and Duke of Mantua. The overall composition is rendered in a bold baroque style typical of early eighteenth-century Italian coinage.
