Obverse description Central field depicts a stylized figure of Saint Sebastian, the patron saint of Baçaim, rendered in low relief in the primitive hammered style characteristic of Portuguese Indian calin coinage. A bundle of arrows divides the field vertically, flanked on either side by the mint letters B and A (for Baçaim) positioned in the left and right fields respectively. The design is confined within an irregular circular flan with no formal border or legend. The overall execution is crude, reflecting the local workshop tradition of the Baçaim mint during the mid-sixteenth century.
