Obverse description Three-quarter length frontal figure of Saint Zeno, patron saint of Verona, depicted standing and wearing episcopal vestments, his right hand raised in benediction and his left hand holding a crozier. The saint is rendered in the angular, stylized Gothic manner typical of late 14th-century Italian hammered coinage. The legend encircling the figure reads S ZENO DE VERONA in uncial Latin characters, identifying the subject. The overall design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, with the legend occupying the outer margin of the flan.
