| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the ornate quartered shield of Savoy, displaying the dynastic arms with the characteristic cross of Savoy prominently featured. The escutcheon is surmounted by a ducal crown. The abbreviated legend EM • FIL IB • D • G, referencing Emmanuel Philibert by the grace of God, runs around the periphery in Latin characters. The overall composition is characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Savoyard hammered coinage, with somewhat irregular flan edges typical of the hand-struck technique. |
