| 正面描述 | Radiant sun with a human face depicted in the centre of the field, with alternating straight and wavy rays emanating outward to the periphery. The circular Latin legend CAR · IMP · DVX · MAN · is distributed around the design, with the date (e.g. 1731) placed in the lower exergual area beneath the solar device. The coin exhibits the irregular flan and bold, somewhat crude relief characteristic of hammered copper coinage of the period. |

Carlo VI ruled Mantua as Holy Roman Emperor, the duchy having passed to Habsburg control after the War of Spanish Succession displaced the Gonzaga line in 1707. By the 1730s, Mantua's small copper issues were essentially a colonial monetary convenience — the imperial administration in Vienna had little appetite for investing in a mint that served a shrinking regional economy.
The MIR references distinguish at least four die varieties across this emission, suggesting the Mantua mint worked through multiple obverse or reverse puncheons during the six-year run.
