The Ionian Islands — Corfu, Cephalonia, Zante, and the smaller dependencies — were among the last territories Venice held before Napoleon's 1797 dissolution of the Republic ended over a millennium of Serenissima governance. Copper soldini for these islands were struck not in Venice proper but administered through the Provveditori, the appointed governors whose authority over local coinage was largely autonomous. The long date range reflects continuous reuse of dies rather than annual production runs.
