Reverse description A rampant lion passant, representing the Lion of Saint Mark, depicted within a beaded inner circle occupying the central field. The lion is shown with its right forepaw raised, facing left, rendered in the bold, somewhat schematic style typical of Venetian Gothic hammered coinage. The surrounding Latin legend invoking Saint Mark and Venice runs along the outer border of the coin.
