Obverse description Half-length facing figure of the Doge Bartolomeo Gradenigo rendered in a stylized Gothic manner, shown in ceremonial ducal robes and horned corno ducale, holding a staff or sceptre before him. The figure is positioned centrally within the field, flanked by the abbreviated Latin legend reading the Doge's name and title. The portrait is characteristic of Venetian hammered coinage of the mid-14th century, with flat, linear treatment of the drapery and regalia.
