| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse features the Peruvian national coat of arms at center, depicting a vicuña in the upper-left canton, a cinchona tree in the upper-right canton, and a cornucopia in the base, all enclosed within an oval shield. The shield is flanked by laurel and palm branches tied with a ribbon at the base, and surmounted by a civic wreath. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ arcs around the upper field, while the denomination UN SOL appears prominently in the lower field. The date 2021 is inscribed below the arms alongside the Lima mint mark (LA monogram), with the weight and fineness 33.625g and PLATA 0,925 noted in the lower left and right fields respectively. |

Issued as part of Peru's ongoing commemorative program honoring national institutions, this piece marks the bicentennial of the National Library — one of the oldest in the Americas, founded by José de San Martín himself by decree on August 28, 1821, just weeks after proclaiming Peruvian independence. The original collection was largely looted by Chilean forces during the War of the Pacific, a loss so catastrophic that Ricardo Palma spent years traveling abroad personally soliciting donated books to rebuild the holdings.
