正面描述 Crowned shield bearing the arms of Luxembourg — a field divided by horizontal bars with a rampant lion passant in the lower portion — displayed at center. The crowned escutcheon is surmounted by an elaborate imperial crown. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, interrupted by small ornamental separators, reading the abbreviated titles of Maria Theresa as Holy Roman Empress, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, and Duchess of Luxembourg. The coin's border is plain with a subtle inner denticulated ring.

附加信息

The Austrian Netherlands issued this denomination under Maria Theresa as part of an effort to regularize a monetary system that had been fractured for decades — the southern Netherlands had circulated a chaotic mix of local, Spanish, and foreign coinages well into the eighteenth century. Billon was the practical choice for small change: too little silver to matter, enough to distinguish it from copper.

Maria Theresa died in 1780, and within years her son Joseph II had scrapped much of the coinage infrastructure in the region, triggering the Brabant Revolution of 1789.
