Obverse description The Peruvian national arms occupy the central field, displaying the three-quartered escutcheon divided into sections representing a vicuna, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia, surmounted by a civic wreath. The legend REPUBLICA PERUANA arcs along the upper periphery, while the mint name LIMA, the fineness designation 5 DECIMOS FINO, and the date appear along the lower field. Coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint bear smaller lettering in the legends compared to those produced at Lima, though all issues carry the Lima Mint name. A beaded border frames the entire design.
