Aanvullende informatie

Joan Martí i Alanis served as Bishop of Urgell — and therefore Co-Prince of Andorra — from 1971 until his death in 2009, making him the longest-serving episcopal Co-Prince in recorded history. The 1982 gold Sobirana series was the first official gold coinage issued under Andorran authority, produced at a moment when the principality still lacked a formal monetary system of its own and relied on both French and Spanish currency for daily commerce.

Andorra would not gain full treaty recognition as a sovereign state until 1993.
