| 表面の説明 | The state emblem of Uzbekistan is rendered in intaglio at the left, surrounded by intricate guilloche underprint in red and green tones against a pale ground. At centre, an ornate Islamic arabesque vignette in teal forms a decorative medallion, while to the right a circular guilloched numeral panel bears the stylised digit '1'. The bank title runs along the top in Cyrillic script, the date '1994' appears at lower right, and a mandatory acceptance legend is inscribed within a cartouche at the foot. |

| 裏面の説明 | A central intaglio vignette presents the Alisher Navoiy State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre in Tashkent, its neoclassical arched facade set amid trees and fountain jets. To the left, a large ornamental numeral '1' in violet with traditional Uzbek floral underprint serves as the denomination indicator. The border is composed of repeating guilloched cartouches, and an anti-counterfeiting legend appears within a panel at the base. |

The 1994 som series marked Uzbekistan's first domestically printed currency — a deliberate break from the transition-period sum-coupon notes that had been produced abroad. GPO Davlat Belgisi, the state security printing works in Tashkent, had only recently reached the capability to produce circulating banknotes when this series was commissioned, and the lower denominations show it: ink registration on the 1 som is noticeably less precise than on higher values in the same issue.
The watermark is rudimentary by contemporary standards — a simple repeated pattern rather than the localized portrait or device watermarks common to more established printing bureaus at the time.
