| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the archiepiscopal coat of arms of Nidaros — a quartered shield bearing the lion of Norway and ecclesiastical symbols — encircled by a beaded inner ring. A cross patée surmounts the shield, with four arms extending to the border, dividing the outer legend. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads OLAWS DEI GRA ARCEP NIDSEN, identifying the issuer as Olav, by the grace of God Archbishop of Nidaros. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Northern European hammered ecclesiastical coinage, with an irregular flan and bold, somewhat crude lettering. |
