Obverse description The obverse is printed in black and red on light paper. At upper left and upper right, two circular red guilloche medallions each bear the numeral '1'. The centre is dominated by a crowned Imperial Russian double-headed eagle within an ornate oval cartouche flanked by the date '18 56'. Above the eagle vignette, bilingual text in Cyrillic and Polish proclaims the note's value and issuing authority. Below the central vignette, two matching serial number panels appear at left and right, followed by signature lines for 'Prezes Banku' and 'Dyrektor Banku' with a small red '1' ornament between them.
