Obverse description A fully armored knight stands facing right in the field, his right hand raising a sword upright against his shoulder while his left hand grasps a ribbon or sash. At his feet rests a crowned escutcheon bearing the heraldic lion of Zeeland. The peripheral legend in Latin is separated by a rook mint mark, encircling the entire design within a beaded border.
