Obverse description The obverse depicts a standing armored figure of the Dutch maiden (Hollandia) facing right, wearing a plumed helmet and a draped mantle, holding a spear or lance upright in her right hand and resting her left hand upon a crowned shield bearing the arms of the United Provinces of the Netherlands. The shield displays the Dutch lion rampant and is surmounted by a royal crown. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with the Latin legend encircling the field along the periphery.
