Obverse description A fully armored knight stands facing right in the center of the field, his right hand raising a sword upright against his shoulder while his left hand grasps a ribbon or scroll. At his feet rests a crowned heraldic shield bearing the arms of Zeeland — a lion issuing from waves. The figure is rendered in the robust Baroque style typical of Dutch provincial silver coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design within a beaded border, identifying the coin as a new silver issue of the County of Zeeland of the United Provinces of the Netherlands.
