附加信息

These bronze coins were produced for Siam during the reign of Chulalongkorn (Rama V), a period of aggressive modernization driven partly by the need to present a credible, Westernized monetary system to European colonial powers eyeing the region. Britain and France were both actively absorbing neighboring territories throughout this era, and Siam's adoption of mechanized coinage — replacing traditional bullet money — was as much a diplomatic gesture as an economic one. The Royal Thai Mint had been established with British technical assistance just years prior.
