| Beschrijving voorzijde | Rectangular cast silver planchet with an irregular, slightly convex surface bearing four large Kanji characters arranged in two vertical columns within the central field. The inscription reads 定 (jō, guaranteed) at upper center, 常銀 (jōgin, standard silver) in the right column, and 是座 (ze-za, this mint) in the left column, attesting to the authenticity and fineness of the piece as certified by the Ginza. The granulated background field and bold, deeply incuse lettering are characteristic of Edo- and early Meiji-period cast coinage. A countermark impression is present, applied at the Ginza to authorize the coin for Meiji-era circulation. |

The short sides of the planchet exhibit vertical reeding, applied as an anti-counterfeiting measure. A row of raised circular boss ornaments is visible along both long edges, framing the central inscription and further identifying this as a product of the official Meiji-period silver mint. |
