Tibet's monetary administration experimented with brass coinage in the early 1920s as a practical alternative to the copper and silver issues then in circulation, but the patterns produced in 1923 never advanced to an approved striking. The Tibetan government's coin production at Dode mint was already inconsistent in metallurgy and output, and brass — requiring imported alloy components — offered no logistical advantage over locally sourced metals.
KM#Pn6 is one of several pattern types from this period that exist in very small numbers, almost certainly struck for evaluation rather than distribution.
